A Sunday Dosa Trail

There are few things that give Mysureans as much joy as a dosa does on a Sunday, or on any other day really for that matter. So, when time came for my friends and I to embark on a new food adventure that did not involve hunting out new cafés, and trying out a variation of the same café food, we decided to head out on a dosa trail– check out the places popular for their dosas, all in one day, a Sunday, of course.

Impana: Thick. Crispy. Pretty good.

Prerana: Surprised at how they have managed to perfect the balance between soft and crispy.
Chutney: Standard.
(Came for the dosa but was also looking forward to the strawberry milkshake, that they no longer serve, outside)
4/5

Namratha: The authentic, stereotypical Masala Dosa. Perfect start to the trail.
Spice level: Not enough.
3/5

Amulya: Appetising from the moment you get it in your hands. Perfectly roasted and golden. A classic. No wonder so many people recommended it as their favourite dosa place.

Impana: The original. Mylari Dosa is just Mylari Dosa. Cannot define or compare.
4/5

Prerana: So fluffy and melt in the mouth. I loved it.
Chutney: More on the coconut side, which I liked. Would like to eat it occasionally and savour it to the fullest, though.
4.5/5

Namratha: Lives up to the hype. It is all about finding the dosa in the butter.
Spice level: Satisfying
5/5

Amulya: Why have I not had this before? Though I thought I liked crisp dosas, I am already going to call it– this is my favourite.

Prerana: Felt it is kind of hyped. There have been better dosas today.
Chutney: Okay
2.5/5

Namratha: The normal, everyday dosa. Open Butter Masala was the better dosa.
Spice level: A little more than satisfying.
2.5/5

Amulya: Found actual masala in the dosa. Liked it and nothing more.
(Was secretly eyeing the Kesari Bath, though)

Impana: I really liked the Pizza Dosa. Tandoori Paneer was okay.
4/5

Prerana: Such an interesting variety. Liked the masala in the Tandoori Dosa.
Chutney: Both coconut and green chutney tasted good. But they were unnecessary, though.
4/5

Namratha: Very new. Very cheesy. Very yum.
Spice level: Very good.
4.5/5

Amulya: The number of options are unbelievable. I did like the taste of both. But I think the more traditional type of dosas are the one for me.

Impana: Neer dosa was decent. Could have been a little more warm and bigger in size. The fish curry was amazing!

Prerana: Curry was definitely the highlight. Ignore the dosa, come for the curry. Chutney: non-existent
4/5

Namratha: Neer dosa, though average, with good curry equals good food.
Spice level: Sweet
3.5/5

Amulya: The curry stole the show. Neer dosa was just its accompaniment. The food experience overall was the best.

- Dosa has only two ingredients, lots of oil and lots of love. Anyone who says they don’t like dosas are lying.
Favourite of the day: Pizza Dosa from Dosa Café

Amulya:
- Might have started liking dosas a little more after this trail. But maybe don’t mention them around me for a little while.
